I am looking for people interested to write articles for Tenchu games we haven’t covered yet.
The games in question are:
Tenchu: Shadow Assassins (2008) – Platform: Wii, PlayStation Portable
Tenchu: Time of the Assassins (2005) – Platform: PlayStation Portable
Tenchu: Dark Secret (2006) – Platform: Nintendo DS
Tenchu Z (2006) – Platform: Xbox 360
Shadow Assault: Tenchu (2008) – Platform: Xbox Live Arcade
Each Tenchu game section follows roughly the same pattern. At a minimum there are articles on characters, items and missions (walk-through) in each game.
You may choose which game you would like to cover and what article(s). You don’t need any coding skills, only produce the content. All articles you post will be under your chosen name.
It would be great to find people who commit to bringing the sections of one or more games on the list alive. Of course I will be there to help along the way.
The requirements are that you have played the game you are going to cover and are willing to play it again to verify the content of your articles. You don’t need to be a native English speaker, but should be able to have a good grasp of it.
If you are interested reply here or email me: selenia (at) tenchu .de
After much deliberation and testing I found a suitable forum candidate. It is called ‘Mingle Forum’ and was relatively easy to set up and adjust the layout.
For now I have created 4 forums Tenchu, News, Tenchu Checkpoint & Forum and Off Topic. Click here to check them out.
The News Forum is a bit of a special case. All articles from the News page appear there. Replies to articles on the news page should (if it works) appear in the forum as well. Same goes for replies made in the forum, they too should appear on the News page.
To use the forums you need to be a registered Tenchu Checkpoint user. Use the Register link at the top right of the site. As a user you can use the forums as well as post comments on the News page and wherever else it is allowed.
The forum allows you to have a signature. On the forum page use Edit your forum options to set it up.
A profile picture/avatar can be set up by registering an account with Gravatar and linking your Tenchu Checkpoint account with your Gravatar account. In order to do so make sure that you use the same email address as with your Tenchu Checkpoint account. It is a bit inconvenient, but it is the easiest of all options. The service is free.
As always there is still lots of work left. Hope you will enjoy the new forum in the meantime.
There is a problem with the News Forum. When I tested it on my home machine it worked fine, but here it fails to create a viewable topic.
Wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday!
Shinobi Peter and I are working on an archive containing all Tenchu 2 custom missions. There are about 80 missions missing. If anyone happens to have all missions that were on the site (500+) then please get in touch (selenia (at) tenchu . de)
I am going use the holidays to look into the forum again. My first idea was to use the WordPress sister forum, but as it turns out maintaining the site look and layout is quite a bit of work as the layout theme cannot be shared between main site and forum easily.
So I am going to look into using ‘Simple Forum’ instead, which will hopefully live up to its name.
The new Shinobido has been released for the Vita recently. Sales seem to be quite good in Japan, so there is a good chance it will be released worldwide as the Vita launches.
Unfortunately there has been no Tenchu related announcement at the Tokyo Game Show this year.
FromSoftware has only shown a new Armored Core and Steel Battalion so far.
Acquire has 4 games at the show: Shinobido 2, Sumioni, Gladiator and Totomono (Classroom Heroes).
Shinobido 2 is confirmed for a worldwide release. The game will be out for the Playstation Vita later this year. The TGS trailer is embedded below. Can you spot the flying ninja?
Sumioni is another game for the Playstation Vita by Acquire. It has a quite interesting art style and seems to be controlled with touch input and analog sticks. Check out the movie for yourself! It starts off a little slow, but there is gameplay shown towards the end. The music is quite catchy.
